Saint Theresa of
Infant Jesus |
 |
THERESA
MARTIN is a personality worth knowing
She tells us in har
autobiography entitled “ Story of a soul”
That since her childhood
she was deeply in need of total trust in God.
Quite young she entered the carmelite order of Lisieux not without many hard
trials to overcome. With tears in her eyes she tells her extraordinary
encounter with the Mother of Jesus who , while she was seriously ill, gave
life with her very presence to the statue of “ Our Lady of the Victories”
not at all big or precious wich stood on a little column on the corner of
her room, the Mother of Jesus who sweetly embraced her and overwhel-med her
with peace, confidence and soon cured her of any evil as well.
But the little Theresa had still to learn from the Mother of Jesus how to
lessen and become unimportant through a simple but fearless bearing.
Like Mary- Sister
Genevieve of the Holy countenance says- her big remedy was silence.
She loved “to keep every thing in her hart” joys and sorrows; that
discretion was her strength, the starting point for perfection as well as
her externat distinctive mark becouse it was grat in deliberation.
She is universally known as Saint Theresa of Infant Jesus and has been
recently proclamied Doctor of the Church by the Pope.
